I also prepared slides from the onion and pea DNA extractions and looked at them under a microscope. Because the extraction contains millions of DNA strands, you cannot see the helix. I also learned from visiting the SABIC biotechnology lab that what I extracted is not a clean sample of DNA material, protein and cell fragments are also included in the DNA extraction. The microscope I used isn't powerful enough.
