Experiment One

In this experiment, I extracted DNA from the following sources using -15C degree alcohol. The alcohol had been stored in the freezer and was always sitting on ice when not being used. The test tubes were stored in the refrigerator when not in use.

Observations

( immediate)

Observations

(taken 24 hours later)

Green Peas (soaked overnight) DNA appeared immediately, forming stringy, upward strands. DNA has formed long, stringy shapes that looks like roots.
Yellow Peas (soaked overnight) DNA appeared immediately, forming thick swirls. Produced DNA on top  in a cylinder shape and a stringy shape just above the split yellow pea  solution.
Chick Peas (soaked overnight DNA appeared immediately at the surface. It was a whitish color, and also very thin In tow test tubes DNA formed in thick layers. In the other test tube DNA floated to the top in a small cylinder shape.
Banana DNA forming very slowly in small whitish colors of strands. DNA floated to the top of the test tube almost like a carbonated drink. DNA has formed a thin coating on the surface of the test tube. In two of the test tubes DNA has rose to the top in a cylinder like shape. In the other test tube DNA floated just above the bottom of the test tube.
Purple Onion DNA appeared immediately on the sides of the test tube but it took a few minutes for the DNA to rise to the top. The DNA is forming in big whitish globs. Formed a cylinder like blobs of DNA at the top with root-like DNA going down wards. Slushy like material formed on the very bottom of the test tube.
Onion DNA formed slowly, forming what looks almost translucent and ice-like. Produced small amounts of DNA. Small cylinder shaped blobs of DNA formed at the top of the test tube.
Parsley  DNA formed almost immediately in thin, stringy strands. Formed very small amounts of DNA in the test tubes. DNA formed cloud-like shapes.
Cranberry In two of the test tubes cylinder-shaped DNA floated to the top, in one other test tube the DNA stayed just above the cranberry solution. The DNA is reddish pink color and appeared immediately. DNA has formed a long cylinder shaped globs from 1/3 to 1/2 of each test tube.
Parsnip DNA is forming immediately producing a thick cylinder shape at the top of the test tube.  Formed the most amounts of DNA. The DNA that was produced almost solid-like. DNA formed from the top to just before the bottom of the test tube.
Kale DNA formed a very thin layer, just above the kale solution. The DNA formed immediately and is a greenish color. DNA is at the top of the test tube and looks odd-shaped or funny. In one test tube the DNA formed is what looks like a swirly string. Part of the kale solution settled to the very bottom of the test tube forming a dark, black looking solution.

After the last written observations were made, DNA sources in each test tube were carefully removed and weighed.
